Andrea Israel is an author and television writer/producer who has worked in the industry for more than 30 years.
As Senior Editorial Producer for Rock'n Robin Productions, Andrea was a writer and producer for the award wining Katrina: 10 Years After The Storm (ABC), Thank You America (ABC), as well as a series of web videos for WebMD including The Future of Health and The Cutting Edge of Cancer.
Andrea was the writer for the first environmental news show Focus Earth (ABC) and a member of the writing team on Good Morning America (which garnered her an Emmy Award), Anderson Cooper 360 (CNN), and Dateline (NBC). She also wrote the cooking show The Main Ingredient (Lifetime).
As an author of fiction, Andrea co-wrote The Recipe Club: A Tale of Food and Friendship (HarperCollins), which was featured on Good Morning America and The View, and selected as a notable book in People magazine. The novel has been published internationally. In addition to selling more than 100,000 copies to date around the globe, the book started a nationwide series of Recipe Clubs in which people shared their true-life stories of food and friendship.
Andrea’s nonfiction articles have appeared in major publications. Her story “In Donald’s Eyes,” was optioned for a feature film. It is the tale of a young boy who witnessed his mother’s drowning during Katrina, and whose life was saved by an unlikely friendship forged after the storm.
Andrea has an M.A. in Creative Writing from NYU. She has been a resident at The Millay Colony for the Arts and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts
